| The botanical originality of the Bambouseraie, created in 1856 by Eugène Mazel, a passionate lover of the plant world, is provided by bamboo plants, not forgetting a host of exotic plants and remarkable trees. |
|
This forest of giant bamboo plants unique in Europe, with centuries-old trees, exceptional landscaping developments such as the Bambusarium, the plant labyrinth, the water garden, the Laotian village and the magnificent Victorian glass houses that Eugène Mazel built ; all these carry visitors off to far-away countries.
Erik Borja, a landscape artist, recently created a surprising Japanese-style garden where you can enjoy strolling : Dragon Valley. It fits into not only the Bambouseraie but also into the Cevenol landscape, and more than one visitor has found it surprising. The Dragon Valley effects are created by manipulating plants and minerals to complement each other, giving a major role to spring flowers and autumnal colours.
| Remaining faithful to the spirit of Eugène Mazel, a visionary, kind-hearted creator, the Bambouseraie has kept a human, botanical and cultural outlook as a garden whose vocation is also to bring people closer together, facilitate meeting and exchange and link information and passions. |
|
This arboretum, a place of culture and exchange unique in Europe, has a very large number of plant species, which collections are continually being added to as time goes by.
